Fertility

Women’s Health Plus provides Adelaide women with pre-conception advice and guidance, as well as assisting those experiencing difficulties in becoming pregnant.

Our specialists Dr Hanan Maghazaji and Dr Preetam Ganu helps women trying to conceive to maximise their chances of doing so, and works with those who may be having trouble in getting pregnant to explore why this might be the case.

If you are planning on becoming pregnant, we offer a pre-conception advisory service that will help to ensure that you are in the best possible physical and mental health to be able to conceive.

As part of this process, we look at your individual lifestyle and circumstances to determine what you can do to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.

This will include gaining a greater understanding of your menstrual cycle and your fertility window, as well as looking at the ways in which your health, diet and lifestyle can impact on your reproductive health.

A woman is generally considered to be experiencing fertility problems if she has not conceived after having unprotected intercourse for a year if aged under 35, or six months if 35 or older. If you are in this situation and have been unable to get pregnant, then this is the appropriate time to seek professional advice.

At Women’s Heath Plus we can provide a range of non-invasive treatments that may make it easier for you to conceive, such as tracking cycles, ovulation induction, and timing intercourse.

There are also some female medical conditions that can hamper your ability to become pregnant. These include Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, premature menopause and thyroid disorders. We can undertake a variety of tests and procedures to discover whether you may be suffering from these or related conditions.

Blood tests can determine whether your hormone levels are normal, while the Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test may be used to ascertain your ovarian reserve and whether it is appropriate for your age.

Ultrasound scans can be used to look for ovarian cysts, fibroids or polyps that may be impacting on your menstrual cycle. In the case of conditions like endometriosis, we are able to provide laparoscopic surgery to help address the fertility problems that this condition can cause.

We understand that it can be a stressful and worrying time for couples who are experiencing fertility problems and difficulty in conceiving. Our experienced and caring team is always on hand to talk with you about the questions you may have, both about the possible causes of your fertility problems and the treatments that are available. We pride ourselves on providing empathetic care and comfort for all of our patients.
